Utility-Pole Application
How "Bear Guard" work?
This innovative design acts as a barrier, effectively stopping bears and other large animals from scaling poles or trees by preventing them from wrapping around the pole with their claws. The non-invasive approach ensures that these animals are not harmed, providing a humane solution to wildlife management and utility safekeeping.

The Issue
Black bears are notorious for their ability to climb power poles, a risky and potentially fatal endeavor for them. When they scale these poles, it is usually in search of food or a spot to relax. The humming noise and scent of electrical devices may draw them in, resembling the allure of natural food sources such as beehives. However, this behavior poses a significant threat to the bears, as they risk electrocution, burns and even starting ground fires ,which can get out of control quickly, from the powerful electrical currents.

Apart from causing harm to animals, events like this can also result in power outages affecting hundreds or even thousands of residents. In addition, there is a risk of disrupting power supply to businesses, plants, and essential services like cell towers and emergency services.
The Solution
This innovative design serves as a protective shield, effectively stopping bears and other sizable creatures from climbing poles or trees by preventing them from gripping around the pole with their claws. As seen in the video to the right.
This gentle approach guarantees the safety of these animals, offering a compassionate resolution to wildlife management and utility protection.
